Summary:  

The Protection Domain Chief Engineer will lead, direct, and support Systems Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) efforts for major Protection-related system acquisitions and capability delivery. This role affords you the opportunity to serve as a technical leader, working alongside a team of subject matter experts and collaborating across the customer enterprise to deliver solutions that protect our most critical national assets.

Primary Duty Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support, consultation, and mentorship to accomplished engineers supporting multiple major Defensive and Indications and Warning (I&W) system acquisitions
  • These efforts will span both established and emerging Protection-related system acquisition initiatives as well as cyber, operations, external enterprise, and cross-domain coordination.
  • Provide technical support across the entire system acquisition lifecycle and the entire breadth of systems engineering functions:
    • Assessing and managing requirements, CONOPs, architecture products, system schedules, and risks
    • Supporting test and verification strategy and the system integration of new initiatives in support of expanded mission capabilities spanning all mission domains: Communications, SIGINT, and GEOINT
  • Interact with several government enterprise systems engineers and stakeholders, as well as multiple Acquisition Offices (AOs) and government and contractor stakeholders to drive resolution plans and strategies for complex technical challenges
  • Partner with the Protection Capability Program Manager for strategic planning of future capability acquisition and insertion into the enterprise baseline
  • Embracing and executing the evolution of ‘traditional’ systems engineering processes and methodologies to a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach

Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly Security Clearance
  • BS in Engineering/Technical with 12-15 years of professional experience or 10-13 years of professional experience with a related MS, or 10 years of professional experience with a related PhD
  • Technical experience working with Protection-related systems
  • Understanding of the Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TCPED) process
  • Demonstrated technical leadership by integrating engineering teams
  • Experience with Systems Engineering and all related functional disciplines therein
  • Experience developing and conducting briefings for senior-level customer stakeholders

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with MBSE, SysML, and digital tools is preferred
  • Prior experience and understanding of agile development methodologies and supporting tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence)
  • Experience with requirements closure, solution demos, and VV&T strategies that align with an agile development approach
  • Awareness of adversarial threat development and impact on space systems
